Thanks for your thoughts everyone ... it's not illegal though the world would be better if it was ... it is dishonest, unethical and sleazy business .... a lot of people probably wouldn't bat an eye about lying to suppliers and not paying them for goods they deliver ... well they get paid eventually months later ... but I have always been extremely honest and fair with all of our suppliers .... built solid business partnerships with them over the years ... they know they can count on me to be tough but open and fair in all deals we make. Now management is discontinuing business with one of our top suppliers who has provided excellent service to us for 20 years ...not because they did anything wrong ... but because we don't want to pay them what we owe. So now I have to find new suppliers who we won't pay either. We should be cutting back on what we buy until sales are up ... but we're not. So we sink deeper into a hole and drag more suppliers with us. What we are doing can seriously hurt some of these companies. I need to find a new job (am looking). I don't have the luxury of being able to quit without having another job first. This may take some time and my hope now is that I can figure out how to do my job and not totally damage my reputation beyond repair.
