I don't think that's it, Doc ... I'm not really sure why they are doing what they are doing ... it's almost like they are in denial about the way things are. Instead of printing 10,000 copies of a particular title that will sit in the warehouse for years we could print half that and only have them for a year and then we could print more ... we would carry a whole lot less debt and everyone would still have their jobs. There are lots of reasons why we print so many books ... and in normal times it makes sense. It doesn't now. It's very complicated. But the bottom line is that they are engaging in some really crappy business practices that hurt everyone in the long run. When we don't pay our suppliers ... they can't pay their suppliers or employees ... and that same trend keeps moving up the chain.

The "do whatever it takes to make a buck" mentality is a huge problem in this world. Ariel talked how it's accepted & that it's ok to do whatever it takes to survive. Part of me understands that. But before we become liars and thieves I think we should stop eating caviar.
