wow Ariel! You can't even walk into a doctor's office here for $20! Costs here are unbelieveable. The new health law doesn't do much about that. This is a capitalistic free market society. This country has been nearly torn apart just to get more people covered by insurance so they can get treatments when they are sick. I think there would be armed conflict if the government tried to do much cost control. Though something has to be done soon. Health care costs are the biggest reason people file for bankruptcy in this country and the numbers continue to rise. If you aren't fortunate enough to have health insurance through your employer the costs to buy your own policy IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND HEALTHY can be a couple thousand $$/year ... if you are older or have health problems it can easily be over $1000 a MONTH just for insurance ... that doesn't include what you have to pay for deductibles and co-pays and medicines. And if you don't have insurance at all ... well ... one hospital visit can easily wipe out everything you own and leave you with nothing ... which is why so many people file bankruptcy

At some point this country has to get universal health care and have cost controls in place or we will not survive. For some unknown reason so many people have been convinced (by rich politicians and the big money health care system) that to have that would be somehow un-american and they would rather see the health care corporations keep getting richer and richer (talking billions of $$) rather than to use some commonsense. Very bizarre. The laws and supply and demand only work when it's for things people have a choice about. How can people choose when they get sick or hurt? Health care isn't a choice then ... it's a necessity and the american people are held hostage by the never ending need for health care companies to make more and more money.

Jay ... I just read your comment again ... not sure why you blame Obama because a drug company developed a drug that only rich people can afford. Exactly what do you think he should do about it?
